Self-Esteem and Empowerment

Self-Esteem is how we feel about ourselves - our self-love.  It comes from within and is the result of having pride in yourself for the person that you are and for your actions.  High self-esteem is the key to wellness.  If someone feels that they are valuable, they will take care of themselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  If someone feels adequate, they can be assertive about their rights and needs, and they will seek out supportive people.

Low self-esteem underlies many health problems and is also the cause of many stressors in life - perfectionism, self-criticism and negative judgements of others.   A lack of self-esteem stems from living someone else's life, not your own.  Reduced self-esteem occurs when we depend on other people's judgements of ourselves, rather than depending on our own feelings of ourselves.  In order to form and keep satisfying relationships, one must have the capacity to love, accept, and form a satisfying relationship with themselves.

Monica Ferkin specializes in working with people who are challenged with self-esteem issues.  Her guidance and support enlightens people to recognize the goodness and value that exists in their hearts, souls, and spirit.
