Grief and Loss

Whenever someone experiences a loss in life, they experience grief.  The magnitude of a loss will vary - the death of someone dear;  separation/divorce;  the loss of a job;  relocation;  a miscarriage;  the loss of an expectation;  or the loss of familiarity and predictability.  The grieving process and how one copes, will differ between individuals.  The intensity will fluctuate depending upon the significance of the event for the individual.  The emotional pain which accompanies grief can be over-whelming and frightening.  People sometimes feel very alone in their grief, especially if they don't express themselves or reach out for support.
