Special Needs children are a journey of brilliance. They are the personification of diversity and love. As with any journey, the path in assisting in the development and growth of our children includes unknowns and obstacles. Along with accomplishments, it can include losses and challenges that can exhaust parents' emotional, physical, and financial resources. This impacts a parent's sense of self, a couple's relationship with one another, and difficulty in knowing how to connect or relate with their child. Parents need a strong and positive support system of people who care about them and their children, and need to take the opportunity to take time out for self-care. In addition to her specialization in working with parents of Autism, Monica Ferkin is the mother of a special needs child. She has first-hand knowledge and the familiarity needed to assist parents through emotional obstacles, and to help them embrace the rainbow of radiance that is our children. In addition to the above, Monica has developed a unique and specialized training which is on the cutting-edge for EAP professionals and businesses in how to assist and support families with children on the spectrum in the workplace - "Lifting the Fog on Autism: Igniting Change in the Workplace and Inspiring Radiance In Families".
